The MURLIN is a high performance trebuchet (standing for Multi-Radius LInear Nodes) which uses variable length sprockets with a remote counterweight drop to get good launch efficiency at CW-to-projectile mass ratios up to about 400:1.  

Distances of 500-700 feet are commonly achieved.

Plans for golfball and baseball versions of this are included below.  I do not ask for compensation but if would be nice if references were to be included in any derivative reports, plus I hope you will think kindly of me if our paths ever cross.

Obviously, trebuchets throw projectiles at high speed with an inherent safety risk.  Please proceed with forethought and caution.
